Makers of fine furniture and accessories

Swallowtail utensil holder, at Shaker Workshops

Damn straight! The Shakers knew how to design some fine accessories. That's some nice craftsmanship.

Onion storage

Hardwood and I cook with onions a lot! We always have a bag or two laying around ready to be used in making vegetable stock, sautéed to put over a few pierogies or thinly sliced for a sandwich. Our current storage situation is rather pathetic. Behold!

Onions on a "festive" tray on top of our cat food storage (old litter container).

It's rather unsightly. Martha Stewart, we are not. So we've been looking around for other options - something that won't take up much space and that will allow some air flow.

I spotted the Grom storage containers in the new Ikea catalog and think they might be perfect. They can hang on the bottom shelf in our pantry and since they are so cheap we could
grab a second one for some potatoes and other wintertime tubers.

A Daily Delight

Remember those Delight-ful Twist and Shut bowls I bonus boned a few weeks ago? Well, there are new artists making 'em pretty and they also happen to be today's web bargain (FREE SHIPPING!).

Love this Catalina Estrada one...[swoon].

Bonus Bone: Artist Series Twist and Shut Bowls

So, apparently these portable bowls are out of stock but they are reordering more...and they should because they are super!

Not only do these travel meal bowls showcase the artistry of craft favorites, such as Amy Ruppel and Matte Stephens, but they also seal tight. Twist and Shut means that soup and even cereal can be taken (in style) on the go.

For this reason, I, Cardboard, declare all this a Design Boner.

Glass canisters

Glass canisters, at CB2

I can be super picky about the most random of objects. For example, I've been looking for the perfect glass canister to hold cotton balls, Q-tips, etc. for several years! They're either too fussy for my tastes or more money than I want to spend on something that I feel "meh" about.

Looks like my search is finally complete. This set from CB2 is just what I was looking for: simple, modern and affordable. $6.95 for the little one and $8.95 for the big one. I'm sold!

Sip 'n' Save

Teacup Tiles, at Up to You (Click on GIFT IDEAS to Find It)

Each tile is its own cup - a tea-sized container I'd fill with bottle caps, buttons, organic gumdrops, loose cents...

Or maybe, I'd just
put my weed in there.

Writing on the Wall

Pictura Suspended Magazine Rack, at Mocha

If you're like most design groupies, you probably have stacks and stacks of magazines lying about. This effect can look wildly artistic and cluttery-cool but it usually just looks messy.

To clear those glossy little addictions off your tabletops and chairs, check out the Pictura Magazine Rack. It holds about 12 magazines and can attach to the wall. As a bonus, the steel box acts as a frame for your most prized cover of...Stockholm New No.10?

A Beautiful Purpose

I've always loved the idea of glass food storage. Although glass might be more cumbersome than plastic, it also strikes me as cleaner and definitely more chic.

These stackable glass compartments from CHEFS, however, fit together snugly due to their bubble-top design.

The allure of glass + the utility of plastic = best of both worlds.

ASPVIK line

ASPVIK cabinet with sliding doors, at IKEA

Anna from Door Sixteen posted about a piece from the ASPVIK line. I've never really taken a look at this line, but now I'm considering checking it out for my studio. I'm in need of some nice, simple storage and this may just fit the bill.

Beautiful storage

Under-sink storage, via Living Etc.

This is quite possibly the most chic under-sink storage I have ever seen. Neat, tidy, no garish packaging or labels, and right at your fingertips.

Hard to Shop For? Take Seriously

King Tut Life-Sized Cabinet, at SkyMall, $895
Looking for a gift for that special person who insists they don't need anything...

I'm pretty sure they haven't seen this.
