Flutter Me This

West Elm just called me up to say that they're offering FREE SHIPPING on their new line of Vintage Butterfly bedding. My first thought of, Yay - FREE SHIPPING!, was quickly replaced by, ...Ick - and on such an horrible product!

But...wait...I think I like it. I can't tell! I flit between thinking they're too cutesy to declaring them a risky but wonderful graphic success.

Are you too strangely attracted to this Butterfly bedding?
Yes! They've flown straight into my heart!
[shrug]
Maybe if it was the larval stage...
Their wings are whisper-quiet but their UGLY is loud as hell.

Use Your Words: Brass Monkey

Drink Brass Monkey - here's how you feel
Put your left leg down - your right leg up
Tilt your head back - let's finish the cup..."

Bonus Bone: Formica's future peacock

Boho diva peacock wall sculpture, at Austin Modern

Our good friend Formica emailed us a link to this peacock with this note:

OMG, Dude!!
This is the peacock that my grandma has hanging over her bed and that I've told her she cannot, under any circumstances, get rid of before checking with me. I have never ever ever seen another one! Crazy!

Crazy is right...crazy-fantastic-rules-so-hardcore-I'm-going-to-pee-my-pants-amazing!!!! I love that the feathers on the head have some serious bling!

For these reasons, I, Porcelain, declare this a Design Boner.

Faking It / Taking It

Aeonium and Echiveria, at Carmel Bay Company

Even though they're pleasant to look at, I'd rather have no succulents than faux succulents...

Goat Head, at Carmel Bay Company

...But I'd totally take the weepy goat head.

Quite possibly the cutest butter dish

Whale butter dish, at Jonathan Adler

Remember Jonathan Adler's whale pitcher? Now there is some more whale-adorableness to add to the collection in butter dish form. Who knew whales were one of the cutest animals to make into ceramics?!

Will hippos be the next big animal trend?

Hippo wall hanger, at Sprout

Dooce has a hippo stapler. So, yes, I see this as a definite trend in the future.
